Accounting and Bookkeeping in Finland for Foreign Owned Companies, in English
Run your Finnish company from anywhere, with an English speaking accountant who handles the bookkeeping, VAT, payroll and tax filings for a fixed monthly fee.
An English speaking accountant in Finland handles your bookkeeping, VAT returns, payroll and annual tax filing remotely, so you never need to read a Finnish form or visit an office. At Tilitoimisto N.M, ongoing accounting starts at 89 e per month for a sole trader (toiminimi) and 149 e per month for a limited company (Oy), with no per voucher fees. The Finnish standard VAT rate is 25,5 percent, and an Oy tax return is due within four months of the end of the financial year.
What does ongoing accounting in Finland include?
Ongoing accounting in Finland covers everything your company is legally required to file, done for you each month. That means bookkeeping (recording every sale, purchase and bank transaction), preparing and filing your VAT return, running payroll and reporting it to the incomes register (tulorekisteri), and producing the annual financial statements and corporate tax return at year end.
We work entirely in English. You send receipts and invoices the way that suits you (photo, PDF, email forward, or a shared folder), and we keep the books in proper Finnish format that the Tax Administration (Vero) and the Trade Register (PRH) accept. You get a clear monthly view of how the company is doing, plus a reminder before anything is due, so there are no surprise deadlines.
Two deadlines matter most. Payroll must be reported to the incomes register within five calendar days of each payment, and an Oy corporate tax return is due within four months of the end of the financial year. We track these for you and file on time.
How much does an accountant cost in Finland?
At Tilitoimisto N.M the price is fixed and known in advance. Bookkeeping for a sole trader (toiminimi) starts at 89 e per month and for a limited company (Oy) at 149 e per month. There are no per voucher fees, so a busy month does not blow up your bill, and you can budget the same number every month.
The fixed fee covers ongoing bookkeeping, VAT returns and routine advice. Payroll and the year end financial statements are priced clearly on top, depending on how many employees you have and how complex the accounts are, and we tell you the figure before any work starts. As a Finnish VAT registered firm, our prices are shown VAT 0, and Finnish VAT of 25,5 percent is added for clients who are liable for it.
How does the remote, English speaking service work?
The whole service is remote. The office is in Finland and we serve clients across the country and abroad without anyone needing to travel. Onboarding, monthly bookkeeping, questions and year end are all handled by email, video call and a shared document folder, in plain English.
You are never left to decode a Finnish letter from the tax office on your own. If Vero or PRH sends something, you forward it to us and we tell you what it means and what to do, or we handle it directly under the authorisation you grant us in Suomi.fi. For most foreign founders this is the difference between running a Finnish company comfortably and being stuck on every form.
What does a foreign owner need to know about a Finnish company?
A Finnish private limited company (Oy) can be founded with no minimum share capital. Since 2019 there is no required starting capital, and if you contribute nothing the share capital is simply recorded as 0 euros in the Trade Register. This makes Finland one of the easier EU countries for a foreign founder to incorporate in.
There is one residence rule to plan for. At least one ordinary board member (and at least one deputy member, if deputies are appointed) must reside in the EEA. If no board member, managing director or signatory resident in the EEA is registered, the company must either obtain a permit from PRH or appoint a representative who resides in Finland and can receive official notifications on its behalf. We help you structure this correctly so the registration goes through.
Practical setup also includes getting a Finnish business ID (Y-tunnus) through the YTJ system, registering for VAT and the prepayment register where relevant, identifying yourself for a Finnish business bank account, and granting us authorisation in Suomi.fi so we can file on your behalf. We guide you through each step in English.
Why use an English speaking accountant in Finland?
Finnish accounting, VAT and payroll rules are filed in Finnish systems and the official guidance is mostly in Finnish. An English speaking accountant in Finland gives you a single point of contact who understands both the rules and your situation as a foreign owner, so nothing is lost in translation and nothing is filed late.
Tilitoimisto N.M is an accounting company in Finland built for exactly this: foreign founders and English speaking entrepreneurs who own a Finnish business and want the bookkeeping done properly, remotely, for a price they can see. The owner and accountant is Nita Mäkinen. If you want a quote, send us a short note about your company and we will reply with a fixed monthly figure.
