Accounting Services
for small businesses in Finland.
I'm Nita Mäkinen, a Finnish bookkeeper based in Nokia, and I handle your accounting in English. You work with one person, me, who stays with your business year after year, not a call centre or a new junior every spring. Bookkeeping, VAT, payroll and tax returns at a fixed monthly price with no per-voucher fees: sole traders from €89/month, limited companies from €99/month. Remote across Finland, free first call.
I work in English and handle the Finnish paperwork, registrations and accounting for you. My most recent foreign-founder client is Mario, who set up Sheimar Education Finland Oy with me.
"Nita was always very clear with her instructions, quick to respond, and extremely professional at every step of the process. Her support made everything much easier and more transparent than I expected."

How bookkeeping works in Finland
A practical overview for foreign entrepreneurs running a business in Finland.
Legal basis
Every Finnish business, sole trader, limited company, partnership, is required by the Finnish Accounting Act (Kirjanpitolaki) to keep double-entry bookkeeping. Sole traders with turnover under €100,000 can use single-entry in some cases, but most use double-entry to stay compliant with VAT rules.
VAT (ALV) in Finland
Standard VAT rate is 25.5% (in force since 1 September 2024). Businesses with annual turnover above €20,000 must register for VAT. Filings are monthly or quarterly to OmaVero, depending on turnover. We handle registration, filings and VAT reporting.
Annual tax returns
Sole traders file a personal income tax return with a business section. Limited companies file a corporate tax return (6B) by April 30 of the following year. Late filings incur penalties starting at €50 and rising with delay.
Financial statements
Limited companies must prepare and submit annual financial statements (tilinpäätös) to the Finnish Patent and Registration Office (PRH). Balance sheet, income statement, notes and, for larger companies, an audit. Due four months after financial year end.
Payroll and employer obligations
Paying even one employee triggers obligations: monthly payroll reporting to the Incomes Register (Tulorekisteri), social security contributions, pension payments (TyEL, around 25% of gross), occupational accident insurance. We handle all of this.
Remote bookkeeping across Finland
Modern Finnish bookkeeping is fully remote. Receipts via mobile app or email, bank feeds connect directly, and all reports are delivered electronically. Our clients are in Helsinki, Tampere, Turku, Oulu, Lapland and everywhere in between, no office visit needed.

Most common questions from international entrepreneurs in Finland.
Do you offer accounting services in English in Finland?
Yes. Tilitoimisto N.M is an English-speaking accounting firm based in Nokia, serving small businesses across Finland remotely. All communication, reports and financial statements are available in English.
How much does accounting cost for a small business in Finland?
Monthly bookkeeping starts at 89 EUR per month for sole traders (toiminimi) and 99 EUR per month for limited companies (osakeyhtiö). The limited company price is a fixed tier by voucher volume: 99 EUR per month up to about 10 vouchers, 149 EUR for 11 to 30 and 199 EUR for 31 to 60. The financial statements and the 6B tax return together are 480 EUR for a limited company, and a sole trader year-end with the tax return is 190 EUR. Prices are VAT 0, with Finnish VAT 25.5 percent added on top. No setup fees and no hidden costs.
What is VAT in Finland and how is it filed?
Finnish VAT (arvonlisävero) is 25.5 percent on most goods and services, in force since 1 September 2024. The default filing period is one calendar month; quarterly filing can be applied for with turnover up to 100,000 EUR and annual filing up to 30,000 EUR. Returns are filed and paid electronically in OmaVero, and we handle them as part of the bookkeeping service.
Can you serve businesses outside Nokia or Tampere?
Yes. Tilitoimisto N.M serves clients all over Finland remotely. Our office is in Nokia (near Tampere), but receipts, documents and meetings are all handled electronically via cloud software, email and video calls.
Can foreigners set up a company in Finland with your help?
Yes. We help foreign founders choose the right business form (sole trader, limited company or branch), prepare the registration documents for the Finnish Patent and Registration Office (PRH) and the Finnish Tax Administration (Verohallinto), register for VAT and set up your accounting from day one, all in English.
How do I send receipts to you?
The easiest way is the mobile app of the bookkeeping software: take a photo of the receipt and the system handles the rest. You can also email receipts to a dedicated address we provide, or we can connect your bank so transactions import automatically.
What's the difference between a sole trader (toiminimi) and a limited company (osakeyhtiö)?
A sole trader is simpler and cheaper to set up, suitable for solo entrepreneurs and freelancers. A limited company (Oy) provides liability protection, is better for growth, and allows for more tax optimization (e.g., dividend distribution). We help you choose the right form for your situation.
Can I switch from another accounting firm to Tilitoimisto N.M?
Absolutely. We handle the entire transfer process: contacting your previous accountant, retrieving your bookkeeping data, transferring electronic authorizations to Verohallinto, and ensuring no gap in your accounting. Typically completed within one week.
Do I need to come to your office?
No. The whole service is remote, all communication via email, phone or video call. Receipts are submitted electronically. You only need to visit the office if you specifically want to.
Can I get a free consultation before signing a contract?
Yes. Book a free initial consultation to go through your business and what we could do for you. We will tell you honestly if our service is not a good fit.
