How much does an accountant cost in Finland? Real yearly costs in 2026

By Nita Mäkinen, bookkeeper and owner of Tilitoimisto N.M, Nokia. Published 11 June 2026. Updated 7 October 2026. 7 min read.

Quick answer: a small Finnish limited company with about 10 vouchers a month pays a median of 1,235 EUR a year for bookkeeping, the financial statements and the tax return, excluding VAT. That's from the 17 published price lists we read on 1 October 2026, where the yearly total ranged from 719 to 2,175 EUR and half of the firms were between about 1,050 and 1,650 EUR. Monthly prices alone don't compare, because firms differ in whether the financial statements, software, payroll and setup are included.

We check other accounting firms' published price lists regularly. This guide uses the latest check: 17 Finnish accounting firms whose prices are public, read on 1 October 2026, and our own price list. All prices exclude VAT.

What a year of bookkeeping costs: the October 2026 check

We calculated each firm's yearly total from its own published prices: 12 monthly fees plus the financial statements and tax return if they're charged separately, no payroll, and each firm's own definition of a voucher.

Why monthly prices don't compare

Two firms with the same monthly price can end up hundreds of euros apart over a year. These are the differences that moved the totals in our check:

  • The financial statements. Seven of the 17 include them in the monthly price. The other ten charge 130 to 375 EUR for the smallest company, median 210 EUR.
  • What counts as a voucher. Some firms count an invoice and its payment as two vouchers, some count payslips as vouchers, and some count bank transactions instead. The same month can be 20 or 40 vouchers depending on the rule.
  • Software. Some include it, some add a monthly fee for their app or for the accounting program.
  • Per-voucher charges. Where a base fee has a per-voucher or per-transaction charge on top, it ranged from 0.40 to 5 EUR.
  • Payroll. Roughly 12 to 30 EUR per payslip, and some firms add a monthly base fee, a fee per payroll run or 25 to 65 EUR for each new employee.
  • Starting and extra work. Setup fees ranged from 0 to about 300 EUR. Hourly rates for extra work were 70 to 120 EUR, median 84 EUR (11 firms).

What a year costs with us

Our monthly price depends on vouchers: 99 EUR up to 10, 149 EUR for 11 to 30, 199 EUR for 31 to 60, 299 EUR for 61 to 100 and 349 EUR for 101 to 150 vouchers a month. Above 150 we quote separately. An invoice and its payment count as one voucher, months with no vouchers aren't invoiced, and there's no software fee unless you need your own access to Fennoa (19 or 39 EUR a month, passed on at cost).

What's in the numbers: the monthly fees, the financial statements with the tax return (480 EUR for a limited company, 190 EUR for a sole trader), payroll at 25 EUR per payslip, the one-off 99 EUR onboarding fee in the first year, and for the foreign founder our 1,200 EUR formation service. PRH's 400 EUR registration fee is paid to PRH.

Where we stand against the check: our monthly tiers for a limited company are in the middle of the market and our hourly rate (65 EUR/h in Finnish, 75 EUR/h in English) is at the low end. Our yearly total for a 10-voucher limited company, 1,668 EUR, is above the 1,235 EUR median, mainly because of the financial statements: at 480 EUR they cost more than twice the 210 EUR median, because with them we go through the past year, forecast the next one and make a tax plan, so the prepayment tax matches the forecast and the split between salary and dividends is worked out. Seasonal businesses pay less than the table shows: a sole trader with vouchers in five months of the year pays 5 x 99 + 190 = 685 EUR.

You pay what the price list says. Nothing else goes on the invoice unless we've agreed it with you first. The full list is on our pricing page.

Questions to ask before you compare quotes

  1. Are the financial statements and the tax return in the monthly price? If not, what do they cost in euros?
  2. How is a voucher counted? Is an invoice and its payment one voucher or two, and do payslips count?
  3. Is software included, and if not, what does it cost per month?
  4. Is payroll priced per payslip, per payroll run or per employee, and is there a setup fee per new employee?
  5. What do starting and taking over the old bookkeeping cost?
  6. What is the notice period? The accounting industry's standard terms TAL2023 default to two months, and the fee runs for that period (Taloushallintoliitto, TAL2023, sections 7 and 13).
  7. Who does the work, and does a question by phone or email cost extra?

For foreign founders

English costs nothing extra in our monthly tiers. Hourly work in English is 75 EUR/h, and company formation in English is 1,200 EUR plus PRH's 400 EUR. In our 1 October check, full-service formation packages for foreign founders cost 1,610 to 3,850 EUR including PRH's fee. Frequently asked questions

How much does bookkeeping cost per month in Finland?

Monthly prices for a small company usually start between about 40 and 150 EUR excluding VAT, but they don't compare on their own, because firms differ in whether the financial statements, software and payroll are included. At Tilitoimisto N.M both sole traders and limited companies pay a fixed 99, 149, 199, 299 or 349 EUR a month depending on vouchers, and months with no vouchers aren't invoiced.

What does a small company pay for accounting per year in Finland?

In the 17 published price lists we read on 1 October 2026, a limited company with about 10 vouchers a month paid 719 to 2,175 EUR a year for bookkeeping, the financial statements and the tax return, median 1,235 EUR, excluding VAT. With 30 vouchers the median was 1,800 EUR and with 60 vouchers 2,295 EUR. A sole trader with 10 vouchers paid a median of 1,041 EUR.

How much do the financial statements cost?

Seven of the 17 price lists we checked include them in the monthly price. The other ten charge 130 to 375 EUR for the smallest company, median 210 EUR. Ours are 480 EUR a year for a limited company and 190 EUR for a sole trader, tax return included. For a limited company that covers a review of the past year, a forecast for the next one and a tax plan.

How much does payroll cost in Finland?

Firms charge roughly 12 to 30 EUR per payslip, and some add a monthly base fee, a fee per payroll run or 25 to 65 EUR for each new employee. We charge 25 EUR per payslip with the Incomes Register filings included and no per-employee setup fee.

What is the difference between fixed-fee and per-voucher pricing?

With a fixed fee the vouchers within your tier are included. With per-voucher pricing each receipt or transaction adds a charge on top of a base fee: in our check those charges ranged from 0.40 to 5 EUR. Ask also how a voucher is counted, because some firms count the invoice and its payment as two.

What does it cost to switch accountants in Finland?

New firms charge from 0 to about 300 EUR to start, and many bill the takeover by the hour. The old firm may also charge: under the Finnish accounting industry's standard terms TAL2023 the default notice period is two months and the fee runs for that period, and balance sheet breakdowns at a mid-year handover are charged separately. With us the onboarding is 99 EUR and the takeover is hourly, 75 EUR/h in English, with an estimate before we start.
