Tax Services in Finland: Tax Returns and Year-End Accounts in English

For companies, sole traders and individuals

We prepare and file Finnish tax returns in English for foreign entrepreneurs, company owners and individuals with income in Finland. That covers the limited company (Oy) return with its financial statements, the sole trader's business tax return and the personal return for rental income. Fixed prices start at €190 a year for a sole trader or a rental income return and €480 for an Oy, excluding VAT.

Who we prepare tax returns for

  • Foreign entrepreneurs living in Finland who run a sole trader business (toiminimi) or a limited company (osakeyhtiö, Oy).
  • Foreign owners of a Finnish Oy, including owners who live abroad.
  • Content creators: streamers, YouTubers and influencers with sponsorship, platform or donation income.
  • People who rent out an apartment or a house in Finland, whether they live here or abroad.

The work is done in English and remotely. You give us an authorisation, normally in Suomi.fi, and we file in MyTax (OmaVero) on your behalf. If the Tax Administration (Verohallinto, Vero) sends you a letter, forward it to us. For bookkeeping month by month, see our accounting services in Finland.

Limited company (Oy): financial statements and Form 6B

Every Finnish Oy files an income tax return (Form 6B) for each financial year, also a year with no business. The financial statements go with it. The deadline is four months after the end of the month in which the financial year ends: 30 April 2027 for a year ending 31 December 2026.

The company pays 20 % corporate income tax on its taxable profit, in advance as prepayment tax based on an estimate. If the estimate was too low, the rest comes as back taxes with interest after the assessment. An additional prepayment made within one month after the tax year ends carries no interest.

For €480 per financial year we close the books, prepare the financial statements, file Form 6B and file the financial statements with the Trade Register (PRH). The price applies when we keep the books month by month, or when you keep them yourself and we review them first (€75 an hour on top, with a written estimate). The same price applies to a short first financial year. We also look at the year behind you and forecast the next one: we size the prepayment tax to that forecast and work out the split between salary and dividends for the owners.

The general meeting adopts the financial statements within six months of the year end, and PRH must have them within eight months. After that, PRH charges a late filing fee starting at €150.

A dormant company files both too. With no sales and at most 10 purchase receipts in the financial year, the price is €250. To close the company for good, read closing a Finnish company first.

Owners who live abroad. A Finnish Oy withholds tax at source on dividends paid to a non-resident owner: by default 30 % for an individual and 20 % for a company. A tax treaty often lowers the rate, provided the owner gives the company proof of residence before the payment. More in taxes for a foreign-owned company in Finland.

Sole trader (toiminimi): year-end and Form 5

A sole trader files the business tax return (Form 5) every year, including years with no activity. Under the Tax Administration's current decision, the deadline for tax year 2026 is 1 April 2027, the same as for your personal pre-completed return.

A sole trader business has no tax of its own: the profit is taxed as your personal income. By default, the part equal to 20 % of the business's net assets at the end of the previous year is capital income and the rest is earned income. You can ask for 10 % instead, or for all of it to be earned income. Capital income is taxed at 30 % (34 % above €30,000) and earned income at your progressive rate, so we work out which split costs less when we prepare the return.

Prepayment tax works as for a company. An individual can make an additional prepayment without interest until the end of January after the tax year.

For €190 a year we close the year's books and file Form 5, when we keep the books month by month or when you keep them yourself and we review them first (€75 an hour on top, with a written estimate). Still choosing a company form? Read sole trader vs limited company in Finland.

Rental income and personal tax returns

Rental income is capital income in Finland, taxed at 30 % (34 % on capital income above €30,000). You report the gross rent and your share of the costs, such as maintenance charges and repairs, even when nothing taxable is left. Loan interest is deducted separately.

Rent from property in Finland is taxed in Finland even if you live abroad. A non-resident files by 28 April of the year after the tax year. If you live in Finland, the date is printed on your pre-completed return: 14, 21 or 28 April, or 1 April if you also run a sole trader business.

For €190 a year we prepare the rental income part of your return with the deductions and file it in MyTax, without monthly bookkeeping. The first year also has a one-off €99 onboarding fee. With a lot of rental income, you can also ask Vero for prepayments so the tax is paid during the year.

Content creators and sponsorship income

Sponsorship fees, brand deals, platform payouts and viewer donations through a streaming service are taxable in Finland, also when the payer is abroad. A product you get as payment for promoting it is taxed at its market value, and the €50 limit for ordinary promotional gifts does not apply to it.

Sponsorship is taxed as earned income, or as business income on Form 5 if content creation is your business. If you bill through your own Oy, the company is the taxpayer. The tax exemption for lottery and gambling winnings does not cover pay for something you did, even when the sponsor runs a gambling site.

Costs tied directly to your content are deductible, such as a microphone bought for streaming or part of a computer's price. Ordinary living costs are not. Keep the receipts, the payout reports and a list of products you received.

What we need from you

For a company or a sole trader:

  • Bank statements for the whole financial year from every account, foreign accounts and payment services included.
  • Sales invoices and purchase receipts, or your own bookkeeping if you keep it.
  • Last year's financial statements and tax return, if we did not prepare them.
  • Loan and lease agreements, and details of any dividends paid.

For rental income, we need the rent received, the housing company's invoices, repair receipts and the bank's statement of loan interest. Content creators send the payout reports from each platform, the sponsor invoices or contracts and the list of products received.

In every case we need your Finnish personal identity code or business ID and an authorisation to act for you. Send the quote request below with your company form, the financial year and roughly how many receipts you have. You get a fixed price in writing before any work starts.

Frequently asked questions

When is the tax return due in Finland?

For tax year 2026, a sole trader files by 1 April 2027 and an individual living in Finland by 14, 21 or 28 April 2027, as printed on the pre-completed return. An individual living abroad files by 28 April 2027. A limited company (Oy) files within four months of the end of the month in which its financial year ends, which is 30 April 2027 for a calendar year.

What is the corporate tax rate in Finland?

The corporate income tax rate is 20 %. A sole trader's profit is not taxed at that rate: it is taxed as the owner's personal income, as capital income and earned income.

Does a company with no business still have to file a tax return?

Yes. A Finnish Oy files Form 6B for every financial year, even with no business, and its financial statements go to the Trade Register. A sole trader files Form 5 every year, including years with no activity. For a dormant Oy with no sales and at most 10 purchase receipts, our price is €250 per financial year plus €99 onboarding.

How much does a tax return cost?

With our monthly bookkeeping, an Oy's financial statements and tax return cost €480 per financial year and a sole trader's year-end and Form 5 €190 a year. If you keep your own books, the same prices apply plus a review at €75 an hour, with a written estimate before we start. A personal return for rental income is €190 a year, plus €99 onboarding in the first year. Prices exclude VAT.

Can you file my Finnish tax return if I live abroad?

Yes. We file under an authorisation you give us. Rent from property in Finland is taxed in Finland even if you live abroad, and dividends from a Finnish company are subject to Finnish withholding tax, which a tax treaty can lower. A non-resident individual files by 28 April of the year after the tax year.

Is sponsorship or streaming income taxable in Finland?

Yes. Sponsorship fees, platform income and viewer donations through a streaming service are taxable, also when the payer is abroad. They are taxed as earned income, or as business income if content creation is your business. The exemption for lottery and gambling winnings does not apply to payments for your work.

What happens if I file late?

If the return arrives late but before the assessment is finished, Vero charges a late-filing fee of €50 per tax year for an individual and €100 for a company. A missing or wrong return can lead to a punitive tax increase. PRH charges an Oy a late filing fee, starting at €150, if the financial statements reach the Trade Register more than eight months after the year end.
